The
Creel, a Knoxville fly shop and outfitter, has been serving East Tennessee’s
fly fishing community for over 20 years. The Creel offers quality
fly fishing gear, accessories, instructional classes, and information
regarding the abundant fly fishing opportunities in the greater East
Tennessee area.
The Knoxville, TN area provides access
to several major tailwater streams and numerous freestone mountain
streams within a reasonable drive. The Clinch River, below Norris
Dam, is only 25 miles from The Creel’s location, and offers
tremendous trout fishing opportunities. The Great Smoky Mountains
National Park is 45 minutes or less from The Creel’s Knoxville
location.
The Clinch River produced the State
record brown trout, and offers miles of quality fly fishing. The GSMNP
has endless miles of small mountain waters in which to fly fish for
rainbow, brown and brook trout. The key to a successful visit to these
Tennessee fly fishing streams, is quality up-to-date fishing reports
and successful fly patterns.
The Creel prides itself in keeping up-to-date
information and appropriate fly patterns for all of East Tennessee’s
fly fishing waters. The website offers Tennessee trout fishing reports,
weather conditions and water levels. The Creel also maintains an excellent
selection of saltwater fly fishing gear and accessories. Whether you
need gear to chase fish on the salt flats or your favorite trout stream,

The Creel also provides fly fishing
and fly tying Classes for beginners and experts alike. Our Introduction
To Fly Fishing classes are held on the Clinch River. Each class encompasses
1.5 days. The first day will cover classroom instruction, as well
as casting instruction on the river. The second half-day will be spent
in waders, on the Clinch River. Students will learn where the fish
hang out, and how to drift the fly to them.
Fly tying classes are during the Fall
and Winter months . The Introduction to Fly Tying class, teaches the
fundamentals of fly tying. The class meets 6 times for 2 hours each.
These classes fill up quickly so be sure to book your spot well in
advance. We will post all upcoming classes, with space available,
on the Tennessee Fly Fishing Bulletin Board. |
